Vegetable Garden Tour will Inspire Novice and Experienced Growers Alike
Hillview Urban Agriculture Center will host its 4th annual “Bountiful Gardens Tour” on July 28th, 2018, offering participants a chance to view 10 private and community gardens in the La Crosse area. Tour stops will include edible landscape and mixed-use gardens of all types and sizes, from traditional plots to those incorporating raised bed, straw bale and square-foot gardening techniques. Experienced gardeners will be available at sites to share tips and answer questions.
This year we will be encouraging participants to travel by bike to our tour stops and will provide a bike route map to those that are interested. If you decide to ride a bike and wear your helmet there will also be incentives! Please join us for a fun filled afternoon getting a better understanding of different varieties of gardens and ways to grow your own food! Some of our stops will even have raffles to participate in from generous local businesses! We hope to see you there!
Tickets cost $5 in advance and $10 the day of the event at each site. Children under 16 are free. Tickets are available during the event at each garden. For more details go to Hillview’s website at Hillviewuac.org or our Facebook page.
Fill out the information on the back of your ticket for a chance to win a container of Hillview’s VermiGold. All participants will receive a free copy of Hillview’s publication The La Crosse Area’s Growing Experience.
If you visit every garden on our tour, you will have 20 minutes per garden and probably be hungry. We have invited Taco Town to park their cart and sell tacos so that everyone can take a quick break from the tour to refuel and support a local business! Taco Town will be at the Washburn Neighborhood garden stop from 11am-1pm.
Hillview Urban Agriculture Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Proceeds from ticket sales will support Hillview’s community programs.
