Market Baskets Cooking Demo at the Winter Farmers Market
December 16 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
We are excited to hold our Market Baskets cooking demonstration at the CPM Winter Farmers Market at the Myrick Park Center this coming Sunday, December 16, at 11:00 am! Claire Bowar, Viterbo Dietetic Student, will be demonstrating making an easy-to-make, delicious, nutritious and low cost “Slow Cooker Butternut Squash Soup” using local ingredients from the Winter Market vendors, including Tapestry Gardens, Bill & Rose’s Fine Fruits & Vegetables, Nao’s Vegetables and Flowers and microgreens that can be purchased from our Hillview booth. The cooking demo will also include a tasting of our spectacularly delicious and nutritious Microgreens!
At the end of the demonstration and tasting, we will have drawings for a slow cooker, immersion blender and cookbook “Cheap and Easy – Eat Well on $4/Day.”
BONUS! If you make a purchase from one or all of the featured vendors before the demo starts at 11(Tapestry Gardens, Bill & Rose’s Fine Fruits & Vegetables, Nao’s Vegetables and Flowers and Hillview), you will receive a slip from them to bring to the demo that you can use for another entry in the giveaways – that would mean up to FIVE chances to win!
We look forward to seeing you there!
Our Market Baskets program teaches food skills by providing free, hands-on cooking classes and demonstrations to the La Crosse Community. Food skills are a combination of knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to prepare safe, nutritious, and culturally representative food. The goals of the cooking classes are to teach community members how to incorporate fresh, local produce into easy-to-prepare, affordable recipes that can be prepared by all ages using a variety of kitchen tools.
