Come and Grow at the Hoop House
August 31 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Come and Grow is a program where we invite community members of any age, ability, background, and experience to have the opportunity to learn organic gardening skills and techniques through hands on experience. Our two growing facilities, the greenhouse and hoop house, allow us to have diverse growing environments and a wide range of growing topics to explore. Participants are encouraged to take home some produce after the program to enjoy!
The hoop house is located in the Washburn Community Garden site, 921 Ferry Street. It is an “indoor” facility that looks like a plastic covered greenhouse. Here you will be able to learn about:
general plant care | watering | fertilizing | pruning | planting | transplanting | seeding | weeding | pest and disease management | how to manage a raised | garden bed | square foot gardening | how to trellis plants | container gardening | companion planting | soil preparation
If you like working with plants and growing great things to eat, this is for you. THIS WORKSHOP IS FREE.
